Ochsner Clinic Foundation is a not-for-profit, comprehensive healthcare organization that includes a main campus hospital and clinic as well as 24 clinics throughout its region. Widely recognized as a center of excellence for research, patient care and education, Ochsner has 18 operating rooms and supports 13,543 surgeries per year.
Challenge
Ochsner wanted to move from a reactive mode to proactive decision-making processes. They also wanted a complete understanding of the metrics of their operations.
Solution

Impact
- Reduced costs sufficiently to be able to cost justify a new $1.3 million Da Vinci Robot which provides minimally invasive surgery for prostatectomy patients. This device is listed as number one in Forbes magazine’s article, ‘Five Robots That Will Change Your Life’.
- Used SIS Analytics at a key board meeting to demonstrate the number of cases the new robot would affect and its return on investment. Gained the budget approval needed for its purchase as a result.
- Saved more than 24 hours per month in staff time that was successfully reallocated to strategic initiatives such as improving the system for users and faster deployment of new automated capabilities.
- Moved to a proactive management approach through the use of real-time information generated by the SIS solution. This resulted in big improvements to areas that had traditionally been managed on an ad hoc or retrospective basis.
