Situation
St. Luke’s is a faith-based, non-profit, multi-facility organization that specializes in treating cardiovascular disease. It has 44 operating rooms that complete 26,780 surgeries per year.
Challenge
St. Luke’s needed a real-time billing system and a more efficient way to capture charges. As a multi-facility hospital, it also needed to accommodate the different billing parameters that existed at each of its facilities.
St. Luke’s chose a SIS RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SOLUTION and made immediate use of SIS’ Rules-Based Charging capability to automatically capture all charges related to each surgical case. The flexible and scalable nature of the SIS solution made it possible for each of St. Luke’s facilities to address their own billing parameters and requirements.
SIS also made it possible for billing data to be automatically pulled from a patient’s record as soon as a nurse signed-off on a closed surgery case. SIS adjusts this information for the specific rules of the facility, and automatically transmits it to St. Luke’s billing system via an HL7 interface.
