Surgical Information Systems (SIS), the leading provider of integrated surgery management systems, recently partnered with the AORN Foundation to fund educational grants for hurricane-impacted members. To assist with attendance expenses for this year’s AORN Congress in Washington, DC, 20 AORN nurse members received a $250 SIS Hurricane Congress Educational Grant. To further support their expenses, AORN and the AORN Foundation also contributed.
“We are honored and humbled by the opportunity to assist hurricane survivors in this capacity. Our company holds an extremely strong respect for nurses, and this opportunity allows us to modestly demonstrate our admiration for their dedication and hard work,” said Bob Schlotman, Executive Vice President of Product Management and Marketing. “These professionals provided care to others under adverse circumstances of their own. This stands as a testament to their dedication and courage,“ added Schlotman.
Members impacted by the Gulf Coast hurricanes in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas were eligible for these grants after they completed grant applications and wrote essays on how the hurricanes affected them both personally and professionally. Grant selections were based on submission criteria, essay quality, financial need and support of AORN at the local and/or national level.
