June 22, 2006
Surgical Information Systems (SIS) ranked #64 in the 13th annual Healthcare Informatics 100, jumping 18 places from the prior year. This competitive list compiles the top 100 companies ranked by 2005 healthcare IT revenue. These companies combined sold over $20 billion in IT products and services including specialized applications like SIS, as well as enterprise-wide solutions. Healthcare Informatics noted an impressive performance by SIS: the first half of 2005 saw increased market activity and record midyear sales and revenues, at 175% ahead of the then year-to-date sales plan, as well as 120% ahead of revenue goals for that year.

Enthusiasm around SIS’ growth was also noted by columnist Benjamin Rooks, an investment banker at William Blair & Company. In the same issue of Healthcare Informatics 100, Rooks highlights SIS under the header “Smooth Operator” for its recapitalization by Vista Equity Partners. He writes, “With new growth-oriented investors, I’d expect the company to become more aggressive moving forward.”

In recent months, SIS has facilitated an impressive number of on-time, on-budget “Go-Lives” led by a recently enhanced SIS Customer Care organization. “As an organization, we are committed to maximizing time to value for our customers. A successful implementation and go-live not only expedites a client’s return on investment, but it lays the foundation for the professional relationship,” said Margaret Lumos, Vice President of Customer Care. “We’ve re-energized SIS Customer Care over the last few months. With significant resource additions and an updated structure that better aligns to our customers’ needs, SIS is well prepared for our aggressive schedule. Above all we are prepared to deliver an excellent customer experience.”

Organizations now live with the latest version of SIS include The National Institutes of Health (aka NIH), MedCenter One, Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, Nebraska Medical Center, St. Vincent’s Health System in Erie, PA, St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL and HealthEast Care System of St. Paul, Minnesota. SIS has also significantly expanded its leadership in the pediatric perioperative market with recent go-lives at notable facilities such as Miami Children’s Hospital, The Hospital for Sick Children, (aka SickKids) and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Pediatric Hospital.
