SIS Patient Flow acts on information in the SIS database as well as from other systems and/or wireless tracking devices. It uses a sophisticated messaging and rules engine to communicate this information in a number of ways. It is a powerful electronic patient tracking board with highly configurable displays that have a variety of HIPPA compliant views that can be used in a numerous areas including the main desk, family waiting areas, nurse and physician break areas, and physician offices. In addition to showing patient location, these displays also show progress milestone completion (for example when an I.V. is started, the I.V. icon on the screen changes color).
The SIS Patient Flow application has received a lot of praise for its easy-to-read screens which convey information not only through intuitive icons and intelligent color choices, but also through clever animation such as a dancing mop to show the room is being cleaned or an animated nurse pushing a stretcher to show a patient is being moved. Also, caregivers can use this tool’s messaging and rules engine to automatically send email messages, pages, or make cell phone calls whenever a certain condition transpires. For example, a hospital might set a rule to send an email to a physician anytime he is more than fifteen minutes late for a case. Finally, this tool can be used to queue up tasks in the patient care sequence and to manage crucial OR resources.
In addition to having a rules engine that is more flexible than any other perioperative patient flow tool on the market, SIS Patient Flow is also unique in that it can be easily linked to a state-of-the-art, enterprise-wide patient flow tool called StatCom.
